Lattafa Bonafi Review: Banana, Dulce de Leche & Cream

A banoffee-inspired gourmand flanker to Eclaire — sweet, lactonic and priced under $35

By Vivir ·
Lattafa Perfumes has spent the last several years turning the gourmand category into one of the most competitive price brackets in fragrance. The Dubai-based house built its reputation on high-volume, low-cost eau de parfums that borrow the architecture of far more expensive scents, and Bonafi — also written as Eclaire Banoffi or Eclaire Bonafi — is the latest extension of that strategy. Bonafi is a flanker to Eclaire, the 2024 vanilla-and-caramel gourmand that became one of Lattafa's most discussed releases. Where Eclaire leaned into straight vanilla and burnt sugar, Bonafi takes its cue from banoffee: the British dessert built from banana, dulce de leche, whipped cream and a biscuit base. The result is a softer, fruitier, more lactonic composition that smells less like a bakery and more like a dessert that has just been assembled. It launched in 2025 as an eau de parfum, is marketed as unisex, and sits in the $25 to $35 range for a 100ml bottle. On Fragrantica it currently holds an overall rating of 3.83 out of 5 — respectable rather than rapturous, and consistent with a scent that does one very specific thing well rather than trying to please everyone.

Scent Journey

1
Opening 0-30 min

The first spray is the most literal moment in the fragrance. Banana arrives immediately — ripe and slightly candied rather than green or fresh — sitting on top of a thick, caramelised dulce de leche. It is sweet from the very first second, with a faint alcohol tingle that fades within a minute or two. The opening reads as dessert, not fruit salad.

2
Heart 1-2 hrs

Within the first hour the banana steps back and the composition turns creamy. Whipped cream and vanilla take over the centre, giving Bonafi a distinctly lactonic, almost milky texture. The sweetness becomes rounder and less sharp, and the scent starts to feel like a single soft mass rather than separate layers.

3
Drydown 4+ hrs

After roughly three hours the base takes control. Biscuit and praline add a toasted, nutty-sweet depth, and musk softens the whole thing into a skin-scent finish. The drydown is powdery-sweet and close to the body rather than loud, and it fades gradually rather than turning sour or synthetic.

Performance Dashboard

⏱️ Longevity 3.0/5

Typically 3 to 5 hours on skin, with a little more on clothing. This is a moderate performer, not a marathon, and reapplication is normal for all-day wear.

📢 Projection 2.0/5

Moderate at first, then close to the skin after the drydown. Expect it to be a personal scent rather than a statement.

💨 Sillage 3.0/5

Moderate. Bonafi leaves a detectable trail for the first hour or two without filling a room.

Pros & Cons

  • ✅ Unusually accurate banoffee accord — banana, caramel and cream are all clearly readable
  • ✅ Very affordable at roughly $25 to $35 for 100ml
  • ✅ Soft, creamy and approachable rather than sharp or synthetic
  • ✅ Works well as a layering base for vanilla and woody fragrances
  • ✅ Genuinely unisex in practice despite the dessert brief
  • ❌ Moderate longevity of roughly 3 to 5 hours
  • ❌ Projection drops close to the skin after the drydown
  • ❌ Too sweet and lactonic for anyone outside the gourmand camp
  • ❌ Can feel heavy in heat or high humidity

Price & Value

$25-$35
Excellent for a 100ml eau de parfum with a distinctive, well-executed gourmand profile.

“At this price Bonafi is close to a no-risk purchase for gourmand fans. Even accounting for its moderate performance, the cost per wear is low enough that reapplication is not a real penalty.”

Reformulation History

No significant batch variations have been reported for Bonafi. As with most Lattafa releases, some wearers note anecdotally that very fresh bottles can smell sharper and more alcohol-forward for the first few weeks, and that a short resting period softens the opening. This is a common observation about new bottles rather than a documented reformulation.

Final Verdict

Lattafa Bonafi does exactly what it promises: it turns the banoffee dessert into a soft, creamy, wearable eau de parfum for under $35. The banana, dulce de leche and whipped cream accords are clearly readable, the drydown is pleasant and skin-close, and the price makes the moderate longevity easy to forgive. It is not a powerhouse and it will not convert anyone who dislikes sweet fragrances, but for gourmand fans it is one of the better-value releases of 2025.
