Scent Journey
The first thirty minutes belong to spice. Cinnamon arrives with genuine heat rather than the soft, bakery-adjacent cinnamon of Western gourmands, sharpened by a dry nutmeg rasp and lifted — barely — by bergamot. The citrus is structural rather than aromatic: it exists to keep the spice from collapsing into heaviness, and it retreats quickly. What remains is a warm, almost dusty spice cloud with a faintly resinous undertow, signalling immediately that this is a Gulf oriental rather than a French patisserie.
Between the first and second hour the composition turns. Dates — the true heart of the fragrance — surface as a dark, syrupy, slightly leathery fruit, and praline adds a roasted, nutty sweetness that rounds the spice. Tuberose and the proprietary floral molecule Mahonial provide a discreet creamy-floral counterweight, never dominant, but essential: without them the mid would read as pure confectionery. The overall impression is of dried fruit steeped in spiced syrup, warm and dense, with the cinnamon still audible beneath.
From roughly the fourth hour onward the fragrance settles into its long base. Vanilla leads, but it is a thick, resinous, almost boozy vanilla rather than a clean one, supported by tonka bean's hay-and-almond softness. Myrrh and benzoin supply a balsamic, faintly smoky depth that gives the sweetness a shadow, while amberwood and the spicy-woody captive Akigalawood provide the dry, structural timber that keeps the whole thing from turning sticky. The final hours are a smooth amber-vanilla skin scent with a persistent woody-spicy spine.
Performance Dashboard
8+ hours on skin, with the base accord remaining detectable well into the following morning on fabric.
Moderate — roughly arm's length at peak, which makes light application viable in shared workspaces.
Moderate to strong — a clear scent trail in the first hours that settles into a closer, warmer envelope.
When to Wear
Pros & Cons
- ✅ Extremely generous longevity for the price bracket
- ✅ Complex, well-sequenced evolution from spice to date-praline to resinous amber
- ✅ Widely available and consistently stocked at mass-market pricing
- ✅ Unisex in practice despite leaning warm and sweet
- ❌ The sweet-spicy gourmand profile is polarising and can read as heavy
- ❌ Moderate-to-strong sillage demands restraint in close quarters
- ❌ Not suitable for warm weather wear
- ❌ Perfumer credit is unpublished, limiting transparency about authorship
Price & Value
“One of the strongest value propositions in contemporary oriental gourmand perfumery. The price is low; the composition is not cheap in construction or effect.”
Reformulation History
No significant batch variations have been reported for the original Lattafa Khamrah. As with all large-volume Gulf productions, maceration and storage conditions affect perceived smoothness more than any documented reformulation. Note that no batch data of any kind exists for the unverified Khamrah Dawn.

Layering Ideas
- Layer beneath a dry, woody oud or a smoky incense fragrance to give Khamrah a darker, more austere frame.
- Pair with a clean musk or light ambroxan-forward scent to thin the sweetness for daytime or office wear.
- Apply a single spray to the chest and a woody-amber to the wrists to keep the date-and-praline heart legible rather than buried.
- Avoid layering with other gourmands — the praline and vanilla base will compound into something heavy and indistinct.
