The first spray is a burst of bergamot, bright and slightly bitter. It is immediately followed by a fresh spicy tingle, likely from the geranium. The rose is already present, but it is still shy, wrapped in citrus. This phase is radiant and optimistic, a brief respite before the deeper emotions emerge.

The heart reveals itself. Rose and geranium take center stage, their floral and aromatic qualities intertwined. The rose is rich and velvety, while the geranium adds a green, spicy edge. Leather begins to surface, first as a soft, smoky whisper, then as a more assertive presence. The animalic facet becomes noticeable, giving the composition a sensual, skin-like quality. This is the emotional core of Anguish Awe: anguish in the animalic darkness, awe in the floral beauty.

The base notes dominate. Leather is now the main character, supported by cedarwood. The rose lingers as a ghost, adding a sweet, floral memory. The cedarwood brings dryness and structure, preventing the leather from becoming too cloying. The animalic notes persist, creating a warm, intimate aura. The drydown is long and satisfying, lasting well into the evening.
