Pros & Cons

  • ✅ Beast mode! This potion has a plastic note, similar to fresh new tires in the store. Another note - it reminds me of markers. Synthetic alcohol based markers. Great gift idea for someone who loves graffiti & spray paint :)
  • ✅ Mostly spicy and woody scents at the beginning. Then about 10-15 minutes later, amber came and sandalwood faded, and it became spicy ambery, very lovely.
  • ✅ It's a nice spicy perfume. The amber in oud is very prominent.
  • ❌ On my amber discovery quest and I should have looked at the notes first because this is really about one note. Amber and spices and whatever else is dominated by Montale’s trademark oud note; a synthetic, boisterous note, the big talker at the party who has had one too many.
  • ❌ This (dark blue version) sits right alongside Mancera’s Intensive Aoud Black and Intensive Aoud Gold so if you have either of those this is too similar to warrant adding to any collection. While this is all a little too sweet and flowery on its opening, its eventual dry down is where it’s true softer and gentler beauty is hidden, but for me, that’s still not worth putting up with the sickly top notes to get there.
