Scent Journey
The first 30 minutes are dominated by a sharp, icy burst of juniper berries and ginger. The juniper provides a gin-like, coniferous coolness, while ginger adds a dry, sparkling heat that cuts through the chill. Geranium contributes a green, slightly rosy nuance that keeps the opening from becoming too austere. The overall effect is bracingly fresh, like a cold mountain breeze carrying the scent of crushed pine needles and citrus zest.
As the fragrance settles into its heart (1–2 hours), the composition warms slightly. Sandalwood emerges, creamy and smooth, but it is tempered by the bitter-green herbaceousness of artemisia. Orris root adds a powdery, almost cosmetic softness that begins to blur the sharp edges of the opening. The ginger recedes, leaving a clean, aromatic woody core that feels both natural and polished.
After four hours, the base notes take over. Clearwood—a synthetic with a radiant, milky sandalwood character—merges with musk and cedar to create a soft, skin-hugging trail. The scent becomes more intimate, with a subtle sweetness and a faint mineralic undertone reminiscent of wet stone. The powdery orris lingers, giving the drydown a refined, almost suede-like texture.
Performance Dashboard
2-4 hours on skin, which is below average for an EDT. The airy nature of the composition means it fades quickly, especially in hot weather.
Soft to moderate projection. It is easily perceived at arm's length initially, but becomes a skin scent within a couple of hours.
Moderate sillage; it projects a noticeable but not overwhelming scent bubble for the first hour or two before settling closer to the skin.
When to Wear
Pros & Cons
- Distinctive icy-mineral opening that stands out among summer freshies
- Elegant, refined woody-powdery drydown
- Versatile and office-safe; unlikely to offend
- Well-blended; synthetic notes are smooth and natural-smelling
- Longevity is poor (2-4 hours), requiring frequent reapplication
- Projection is modest; may be too quiet for some
- Not original enough for collectors seeking a bold statement
- Price point is high relative to performance
Price & Value
“Fair value only if purchased at a discount; full retail price is difficult to justify given the need for reapplication.”
Reformulation History
