Giardini di Toscana Oro e Miele Review: Honeyed Gold

Tuscan honey, almond blossom and vanilla in a 2026 gourmand of extraordinary power.

By Vivir · · Updated
Few fragrance names are as frankly declarative as Oro e Miele. Translated from the Italian it means simply Gold and Honey, and it makes no attempt whatsoever to disguise its intentions. This is a gourmand, unapologetically, and it arrives from Giardini di Toscana, the Italian niche house that has spent the past several years quietly redefining what a luxury gourmand can be. Where many houses treat sweetness as something to be apologised for — buried beneath astringent citrus, sharpened with pink pepper, or diluted into the vague territory of the fresh gourmand — Giardini di Toscana builds its compositions around it. The house's breakout success, Bianco Latte, demonstrated that an unashamedly milky, vanilla-forward scent could command a devoted international following. Oro e Miele, released in 2026 and composed by Silvia Martinelli, extends that philosophy into warmer, more resinous, more overtly decadent territory. This is not a subtle fragrance. It is a fragrance that announces itself, that lingers on scarves for days, and that divides opinion cleanly into two camps: those who find it a masterpiece of comfort, and those who find it simply too much. What follows is an examination of its composition, its evolution on skin, its performance, and the question every prospective buyer asks — is it worth the price?

Scent Journey

1
Opening 0-30 min

The first spray is a dense cloud of almond blossom and heliotrope, with a faint velvety pinkness from the rose underneath. It is immediately sweet and immediately powdery — the powder arrives faster than in most gourmands, which is a distinguishing characteristic of this composition. The almond reads as marzipan rather than bitter almond, so there is no sharpness. Within ten minutes the honey begins to surface and the fragrance turns warmer and heavier.

2
Heart 1-2 hrs

This is Oro e Miele at its most complete. Honey, vanilla and coconut merge into a thick, golden, almost syrupy accord while a dark jammy berry note adds fruited depth. The powderiness intensifies here — several wearers describe the fragrance as a powder bomb, and this stage is why. The scent is at its loudest and most expansive during these hours, filling a room with ease.

3
Drydown 4+ hrs

The sweetness recedes somewhat and the base materials come forward. Tonka bean and benzoin give a warm, balsamic, faintly smoky quality; iris and white musk maintain the powdery, skin-close softness; sandalwood and cedarwood provide a dry woody foundation. The fragrance remains sweet throughout — it never turns austere — but it becomes noticeably more resinous and more classical, losing some of its dessert character and gaining something closer to a traditional amber.

Performance Dashboard

Longevity 5.0/5

All day. Wearers consistently report detectable traces on skin well beyond twelve hours, and considerably longer on fabric.

Projection 5.0/5

Very strong — it fills a room. Two to three sprays is ample; four or more will overwhelm most settings.

Sillage 5.0/5

Heavy. The fragrance leaves a pronounced trail and is easily noticed by others at a distance.

Pros & Cons

  • Exceptional longevity — genuinely all-day wear
  • Very strong projection and room-filling sillage
  • A richer, more classical base than most competitors, built on benzoin, iris and tonka rather than sugar alone
  • The iris and benzoin give the composition a dusty, resinous, almost vintage quality
  • Excellent cost-per-wearing given the low application rate required
  • A genuine honeyed gourmand rather than another generic vanilla
  • Extremely sweet — too much for many wearers
  • Extremely powdery, to the point that some describe it as a powder bomb
  • Projection is powerful enough to be inappropriate in offices and enclosed public spaces
  • The coconut facet in the heart is unexpected and polarising
  • Unsuitable for summer or humid climates
  • No citrus, aromatic or green note to provide lift or contrast

Price & Value

$128-$160 for 100ml EDP
Positioned in the mid-to-upper niche bracket — well below the $300-plus tier of the great French houses, but above designer pricing. Discounters such as Jomashop list it near $128, while retailers such as Maxaroma sit closer to $160.

“Favourable. High concentration, exceptional longevity and a very low application rate mean a single bottle lasts an unusually long time, making this one of the better value propositions in the contemporary gourmand category.”

Reformulation History

No significant batch variations reported. As a recent 2026 release, Oro e Miele remains in its first formulation.

Final Verdict

Oro e Miele is a confident, well-constructed gourmand that knows exactly what it is. Its composition is richer and more classical than most of its competitors, thanks to a base built on benzoin, iris and tonka rather than on sugar alone, and its performance is genuinely exceptional. The caveats are equally clear — it is extremely sweet, extremely powdery and extremely loud — but for those who love this style, it is difficult to imagine a more satisfying execution.
