Pros & Cons

  • ✅ Buying! I would do without the red name on the glass.
  • ✅ The bottle is gorgeous and looks like a collector's.
  • ✅ I will definitely give it a try!
  • ✅ La Favorite opens with this bergamot-and-black-currant thing that should feel safe and predictable... except there's pink pepper sitting underneath it that gives the whole opening this tiny electric charge.
  • ✅ The drydown is where the fight happens. Patchouli shows up around hour three... it's been sanded smooth, paired with sandalwood and a vanilla that stays in its lane.
  • ✅ It's the only one of the three where I'd reach for it specifically because I was in a complicated mood.
  • ❌ The scent pyramid sounds very generic.
  • ❌ I would have been excited, if this was Fragile.
  • ❌ The new fragrance would be more accurately called La Dominatrix
  • ❌ The opening — the bergamot and black currant phase — doesn't do enough. It feels like a setup that overpromises and the payoff only arrives when the florals come through.
  • ❌ For the first fifteen minutes, La Favorite could be almost anything.
  • ❌ The price... you're paying a premium that relies partly on the JPG name. There are orientals in the niche space hitting similar territory with more complexity for comparable money.
