Scent Journey
The first spray leads with the gourmand accord — a rounded, almost confectionery sweetness that is immediately checked by a cool, powdery iris. The iris arrives unusually early here, sitting in the top register rather than the heart, which gives the opening a pale, suede-like dryness rather than the fruit-and-praline burst of the original.
Within the first hour the white florals take over. Orange blossom contributes a honeyed, slightly soapy radiance, while jasmine sambac adds a greener, more indolic texture. The composition reads brightest and most 'sparkling' in this window — this is the phase the flanker was built around.
The base settles into the familiar La Vie Est Belle signature: vanilla, but a leaner and less creamy vanilla than the original, resting on a patchouli that is more earthy than chocolatey. The drydown is soft, close to the skin, and considerably quieter than the opening promised.
Performance Dashboard
Reported at roughly 2 hours on skin, with noticeably longer tenacity on fabric
Weak to moderate, and distinctly softer than the original La Vie Est Belle
Moderate to soft; it scents a room gently rather than filling it
When to Wear
Pros & Cons
- A genuinely lighter, more wearable take on a famously heavy gourmand
- Refillable limited-edition flacon with real collector appeal
- Versatile enough for evening wear and lightly applied office use
- Retains the recognisable iris-vanilla-patchouli signature of the line
- Reported longevity of roughly two hours on skin is poor for an EDP at this price
- Weak-to-moderate projection may disappoint those expecting the original's presence
- Limited-edition pricing without a corresponding performance advantage
- Offers variation rather than innovation within an already crowded flanker family
Price & Value
“Fair for a refillable anniversary edition with collector value, but difficult to justify purely on performance. Buy it for the bottle and the lighter profile, not for longevity.”
Reformulation History
No significant batch variations reported. As a 2025 limited edition, the release is too recent for meaningful batch-to-batch divergence to have been documented; early production runs of limited editions sometimes project marginally more strongly than later ones, but nothing has been confirmed here.
Who It's For
Ideal For
- Devotees of La Vie Est Belle who found the original too heavy or too sweet
- Collectors of limited-edition Lancôme flacons and refillable bottle enthusiasts
- Women who prefer an intimate, skin-close floral gourmand for evening wear
- Those seeking a softer office-appropriate gourmand for cooler months
Not Recommended For
- Wearers who need all-day longevity without reapplication
- Fans of the original's dense praline-and-vanilla projection
- Anyone seeking a genuinely novel composition rather than a lighter reading of a known one
- High-heat summer wear, where the vanilla and patchouli base can turn cloying

Layering Ideas
- Layer over an unscented or lightly vanillic body cream to extend the short skin longevity without altering the profile
- Pair with a single-note neroli or orange blossom solinote to amplify the sparkling citrus-floral opening
- Add a light woody-amber base oil to give the drydown more spine for evening wear
- Avoid layering with heavy oud, tobacco or leather compositions, which will overwhelm the delicate iris
