Roja Dove Isola Verde Review: A Tropical Green Parfum

Antoine Cotton's 2025 parfum bottles the Mediterranean summer — and it's already a cult favourite.

By Vivir ·
Roja Parfums built its name on gold-capped opulence — oud, amber, rose, the whole velvet-curtain vocabulary. So a 2025 release called Isola Verde, a bright green-fruity parfum signed by Antoine Cotton, reads almost like a provocation. It isn't. It's the house loosening its collar, and it turns out Roja does daylight rather beautifully. The Isola line has always been Roja's Mediterranean chapter, the sunlit counter-argument to Aoud and Amber. Isola Verde (literally "green island") pushes that story inland, away from the postcard beach and towards the shady side of the island: fig-leaf shade, wet stone after a storm, a bowl of fruit left out on a terrace table. It arrives at the exact moment the wider market has gone fruit-mad — 2025 is the year guava, melon and lychee took over from the aquatic molecules of a decade ago — yet it refuses to be simple about it. Under the juice there's a proper structural spine: patchouli, ambroxan, cedarwood, a whisper of tobacco and rum. It is unisex, it is a Parfum concentration, it is £385 for 50 ml, and it currently sits at 4.2 on Fragrantica. Here's the full picture.

Scent Journey

1
Opening 0-30 min

The first spray is a squeezed citrus duet — mandarin and clementine — lifted by the airy, almost transparent radiance of hedione. It reads cold and bright for the first ten minutes, with a green, slightly dewy halo that already hints at what's coming. Projection here is genuinely enormous; one or two sprays fill a room, and the opening is by far the loudest part of the wear.

2
Heart 1-2 hrs

Within 20 to 30 minutes the fruit bowl opens. Guava is the headline — pulpy, faintly tropical, sweet without being syrupy — with melon softening the edges and magnolia and lily-of-the-valley providing a clean white floral scaffolding. Osmanthus adds a faint apricot-leather nuance and davana gives a herbal, almost boozy-green flicker that keeps the fruit from turning into a smoothie. For an hour or two this is the heart of the fragrance, and it's the most original passage.

3
Drydown 4+ hrs

From roughly three to four hours onward, Isola Verde stops being a fruit and becomes a proper perfume. Patchouli and ambroxan take the wheel, cedarwood and sandalwood give it dryness and grain, and the tobacco, rum and cardamom appear as a warm, faintly spiced shadow rather than a dessert. By hour six it's a skin-scent with a green-woody signature — closer than the opening ever suggested it would be, and comfortably present for eight to nine hours.

Performance Dashboard

Longevity 4.0/5

A verified 8–9 hours on skin, with the tail end sitting very close as a woody-patchouli residue rather than disappearing entirely.

Projection 4.0/5

Strong to nuclear for the first two to three hours, then a marked settling into a close-to-skin hum.

Sillage 3.0/5

Moderate overall and noticeably more personal after the opening; this is not a room-filling signature for the whole wear.

Pros & Cons

  • Genuinely original fruit-forward profile with a structural chypre-adjacent base
  • Excellent longevity for a fresh composition at 8–9 hours
  • The juicy opening is followed by a dry, dignified, tobacco-tinged woody base
  • Fully unisex — the white florals and woods balance evenly
  • The strong opening fades into a personal scent far sooner than some will want
  • £385 for 50 ml is a serious outlay for a warm-weather seasonal
  • The guava-melon accord is polarising and can read synthetic to some noses
  • Limited versatility outside spring and summer

Price & Value

£385 (50 ml Parfum)
A luxury-tier price for a single concentration in a single size — you are paying for the house name and the composition, not for volume or versatility.

“Fair only for committed Roja collectors or anyone specifically hunting a tropical-fruit parfum with a serious base. For everyone else it's a sample-first purchase.”

Reformulation History

No significant batch variations reported — Isola Verde is a 2025 release and the batch pool is still too recent and too small for any meaningful variation to have been documented.

Final Verdict

Isola Verde is the most interesting thing Roja Parfums has done in the daylight hours for years — a tropical-fruit opening bolted to a properly constructed patchouli-ambroxan base with a tobacco shadow. Its only real flaw is that it front-loads the drama, but the eight-to-nine-hour wear and the genuinely unisex balance more than compensate. Sample it before committing £385, but do sample it.
