Scent Journey
The first 0 to 30 minutes are brighter than the incense-heavy accord list might suggest. Mandarin, lemon, and orange create a citrus veil, but because this is a concentrated perfume oil, the citrus does not flash off like a cologne top. Elemi resin adds a lemony, peppery, balsamic lift that bridges the fruit and the olibanum heart. The opening feels polished, slightly sharp, and resinous rather than sugary or modern-fresh.
At roughly 1 to 2 hours, the heart becomes leather-forward and resinous. Olibanum and frankincense provide a dry, incense-like tone, while elemi keeps a citrus-resinous shimmer. Cedarwood adds vertical structure, and the leather note gives the composition a supple, slightly animalic texture. Several reviewer comments suggest that Private Frankincense is more leathery and citrusy than a heavy smoky olibanum, and the heart supports that reading: the smoke is balsamic and resinous rather than campfire-like.
From 4 hours onward, the base settles into amber, agarwood, guaiac wood, vetiver, and musk, with frankincense still visible as a resinous thread. Amber supplies warmth, oud adds depth and a woody-animalic shadow, guaiac wood contributes a dry smoky-woody facet, vetiver gives an earthy grounding, and musk softens the edges. The drydown is long, close-wearing, and layered rather than loud, which is typical of a well-built CPO.
Performance Dashboard
8+ hours as a concentrated perfume oil; many CPO wearers report longer wear on skin and clothing. This is a soft estimate based on format and reviewer comments.
Moderate and close-wearing; it builds depth around the wearer rather than filling a room immediately.
Moderate to strong; the oil creates a noticeable scent bubble without the explosive diffusion of an alcohol spray.
