Scent Journey
The first 0 to 30 minutes belong entirely to the citrus. Bitter orange and Italian orange arrive together — sweet peel on one side, pithy bitterness on the other — sharpened by a squeeze of lime and a green, slightly peppery lift of basil. The effect is genuinely effervescent: it fizzes on the skin in a way that reads closer to a garnished spritz than a traditional cologne. It is loud for the first few minutes and then settles quickly.
Between roughly one and two hours, the citrus recedes and the aromatic heart takes over. Petitgrain — distilled from the leaves and twigs of the same bitter orange tree — keeps the composition green and woody-citrus rather than sweet, while juniper adds a dry, coniferous, faintly gin-like edge. The drink metaphor sharpens here: this is the herbal, slightly bitter middle of the glass rather than the fruit at the top.
From roughly four hours onward, Alba Sui Navigli becomes a skin scent. Ambroxan supplies a clean, faintly salty-ambery hum, musk softens the edges, and vetiver gives the base a dry, grassy, faintly earthy root. What remains is quiet, modern and slightly soapy — a soft green-woody residue rather than a projection-heavy base. Wearers who want the fragrance to announce itself will find this stage underwhelming; those who want something discreet will find it ideal.
Performance Dashboard
Moderate, roughly 4 to 6 hours on skin. User reports are mixed: some find it fades within three to four hours, others get a full working day from it, particularly on clothing.
Intimate to moderate. Strong for the opening fifteen minutes, then largely within arm's length.
Moderate. It leaves a pleasant but contained trail for the first two hours and then stays close to the body.
When to Wear
Pros & Cons
- Genuinely bright, natural-smelling bitter citrus opening that avoids the syrupy sweetness of many designer citruses
- Distinctive effervescent spritz character that is difficult to find executed this convincingly
- Truly unisex and easy to wear in shared spaces
- Well suited to office wear and hot weather
- Reasonable pricing for a designer eau de parfum, especially at discounters
- Longevity is moderate at best, at roughly four to six hours
- Projection is intimate to moderate after the opening
- Seasonal range is narrow — it struggles in cold weather
- The bitter, sharp citrus opening can read as harsh to some noses
Price & Value
“Good value when discounted, fair value at retail. Buy it for the composition, not for the longevity.”

Layering Ideas
- Layer with a straight vetiver eau de toilette to extend the dry, grassy base and add an hour or two of longevity.
- Layer with a clean white musk to soften the bitter opening and push it further into skin-scent territory.
- Layer with a light amber in early autumn to give the citrus a warmer, longer-lasting foundation.
- Avoid layering with sweet gourmands, vanilla or heavy oud — they flatten the effervescent character that makes this fragrance worth wearing.
