Scent Journey
The first 30 minutes are dominated by frankincense, but not the cold, church-incense frankincense many wearers will expect. Amouage and Bisch have pushed the resin upward with citrus and aldehydic materials, so the opening reads bright, almost sparkling, with a green-tinged lift before any smoke arrives. It is the most unusual phase of the wear and the one most likely to divide people.
Between roughly one and two hours, myrrh moves into the centre. The composition turns noticeably rounder and more balsamic, with a soft, slightly sweet resinous quality that sits close to the skin. The citrus lift fades but does not vanish entirely — it leaves a faint brightness that keeps the myrrh from becoming heavy.
From four hours onward, labdanum takes over. The finish is warm, amber-adjacent and gently smoky, with the leathery, honeyed facets that labdanum is known for. The resinous and woody accords dominate here, and the projection settles considerably. This is the phase that lasts longest and the one that defines the fragrance's overall character.
Performance Dashboard
Above average. Parfumo users rate longevity at 9.1 out of 10, which for a 100% oil attar is consistent with the concentration — expect a full day of wear from a small application.
Close to the skin, with gentle wafts returning throughout the day. No verified numeric projection rating is available.
Moderate. Parfumo's sillage rating sits at 7.8 out of 10. It leaves a discernible trail without filling a room.
When to Wear
Pros & Cons
- ✅ Genuinely original treatment of frankincense — bright and lifted rather than smoky and austere
- ✅ Excellent longevity from the 100% oil concentration, backed by a 9.1/10 Parfumo rating
- ✅ Works as a layering base, with Amouage itself recommending pairing with Decision and Purpose
- ✅ Unisex in the truest sense — the note structure has no gendered lean
- ❌ $540 USD for a single attar is a significant outlay
- ❌ Moderate sillage and close projection mean it will not satisfy wearers who want a big footprint
- ❌ The opening's citrus-aldheydic lift is unconventional and may read as sharp to some noses
- ❌ No verified similar-fragrance or clone data is available yet, making blind-buy comparisons difficult
Price & Value
“The value case rests entirely on concentration and longevity. A 100% oil attar requires far less product per wear than an eau de parfum, and the 9.1/10 longevity rating supports that. Even so, this is a considered purchase rather than an impulse buy, and the close-to-skin projection means you are paying for richness and duration rather than impact.”
Reformulation History
No significant batch variations reported. As a 2025 release with a short production history, no meaningful reformulation data exists yet.

Layering Ideas
- Amouage recommends layering Luban Al Akhdar with Decision, which adds a sharper, more aromatic edge to the resinous base.
- Amouage also recommends pairing it with Purpose, whose warmer, spicier profile builds out the labdanum drydown.
- Because the attar projects close to the skin, apply it first as a base and layer an eau de parfum on top — the oil holds the resin while the spray carries the sillage.
