Loewe Agua Drop Review: Sunlit Citrus and Leather

Loewe's 2024 EDP pairs bright orange blossom with Spanish rockrose and leather for everyday luxury.

By Vivir ·
Loewe released Agua Drop in 2024, and it arrives as one of the more quietly confident designer launches of the year. Where much of the category chases volume, this one chases light. Agua Drop is a bright citrus-floral built around bergamot, orange blossom, and most distinctively the house's own LOEWE Accord, a rockrose and labdanum signature that pulls the composition toward warm resin and soft leather as the day goes on. It is an eau de parfum, it belongs to the Loewe Agua family, and it is priced at roughly $110 to $170 for a 100ml bottle. On Fragrantica it sits at an overall rating of about 3.95 out of 5, with community scores putting longevity near 5.9 out of 10 and sillage near 3.9 out of 10. Those are modest numbers for a luxury release, and they are worth reading honestly: Agua Drop is not a powerhouse. It is a well-mannered, close-wearing fragrance with a genuinely distinctive base. What follows is a full breakdown of the notes, how the scent evolves across a wearing, its real-world performance, who it suits, and how it stacks up against the rest of the Loewe line and the wider citrus-floral market.

Scent Journey

1
Opening 0-30 min

The first 15 to 30 minutes are almost entirely bergamot and orange blossom — sparkling, clean and slightly soapy, with the orange blossom reading creamy rather than indolic. There is a faint green bitterness from the absinth underneath that keeps the opening from turning sweet.

2
Heart 1-2 hrs

Between roughly one and two hours the citrus recedes and the heart takes over. Absinth adds a cool, anise-adjacent herbal edge, while the LOEWE Accord begins to surface as warm resinous rockrose. The fragrance moves from bright to softly aromatic.

3
Drydown 4+ hrs

From around the third or fourth hour onward, labdanum and leather dominate. The finish is soft, slightly smoky, and close to the skin — more of a warm resinous hum than a defined leather note. It fades gradually rather than dropping off sharply.

Performance Dashboard

Longevity 3.0/5

Moderate, roughly 5 to 6 hours on skin in most reports, with a community longevity score of about 5.9 out of 10. Expect closer to 3 to 4 hours in hot, humid conditions.

Projection 2.0/5

Moderate at best. It projects for the first hour on the citrus opening, then settles fairly close to the skin for the remainder of the wear.

Sillage 2.0/5

Moderate to soft, with a community sillage score around 3.9 out of 10. It leaves a noticeable personal scent trail but will not fill a room.

Pros & Cons

  • Bright, realistic citrus opening that feels polished rather than synthetic
  • Distinctive Spanish rockrose and labdanum base gives it real identity
  • Office-safe and easy to wear in warm weather
  • Refined, non-invasive projection that suits close-quarters settings
  • Longevity is moderate at best, roughly 5 to 6 hours
  • The leather and labdanum drydown will not suit everyone
  • Sits close to other fragrances in the Loewe Agua line
  • Price per millilitre is high relative to the performance

Price & Value

$110-$170
Priced as a luxury eau de parfum at roughly $1.10 to $1.70 per millilitre for a 100ml bottle. The packaging and materials justify part of the cost; the moderate performance does not fully justify the rest.

“Fair value only if you buy it for what it is — a refined, close-wearing spring and summer citrus. If you want an all-day fragrance at this price, there are stronger options.”

Final Verdict

Loewe Agua Drop is a considered, well-made citrus-floral that trades power for polish. Its bergamot and orange blossom opening is genuinely lovely and its rockrose-leather base gives it more character than most fragrances in this category. Buy it as a spring and summer everyday scent, not as an all-day performer, and it delivers exactly what it promises.
