Scent Journey
First 0–30 minutes: a sparkling citrus-neroli burst. Bergamot brings its bitter Earl Grey edge, yuzu adds a cool green shimmer, and neroli rises above both — soapy, sunlit and almost effervescent. This is the most extroverted phase of the wear, clean and radiant rather than sweet.
1–2 hours (heart): the white florals take the stage. Orange blossom arrives in full honeyed bloom, jasmine sambac adds a soft indolic breath that keeps things from feeling sterile, and Mahonial threads through with a modern lily-of-the-valley freshness and a faint rosy blush. The citrus recedes but never fully disappears, and a creamy sweetness begins to creep in at the edges.
4+ hours: vanilla, tonka bean, amber and Ambrox. Warm, skin-like and softly powdery-sweet, with a woody-amberic hum underneath. Intimate rather than expansive — a second-skin finish that fades gracefully rather than announcing its exit.
Performance Dashboard
Moderate and highly skin-dependent — reports cluster around 2–5 hours on some skin, with longer wear on clothing or in humid weather.
Moderate to close — sits within arm's length for the first hour or two, then pulls in toward the skin.
Moderate — leaves a soft, elegant trail within a few feet, but never fills a room.
When to Wear
Pros & Cons
- Beautifully polished white floral accord with genuine material quality — jasmine sambac, orange blossom and the Givaudan captive Mahonial
- Radiant, clean and office-safe; ideal for spring and summer daytime wear
- Versatile enough to move from the desk to dinner without feeling out of place
- The citrus opening is genuinely striking — bright, bitter-edged and non-sweet
- Longevity is moderate at best for many wearers, with reports clustering around 2–5 hours
- At €285 for 75ml, the price sits high relative to the wear time it delivers
- Not a statement scent — it whispers rather than announces
- The vanilla-tonka drydown can read as generically sweet to those who prefer a drier finish
Price & Value
“Beautiful but not a bargain. Buy Athénaïs for the scent itself, not for performance per euro — if you measure value in hours worn, the maths is unflattering.”
Reformulation History
As a 2026 release, no meaningful batch variations have been documented to date; early bottles appear consistent. As with all Parfums de Marly releases, maceration over several months may deepen the vanilla-amber base slightly.

Layering Ideas
- Layer over Parfums de Marly Delina to build a rose-and-orange-blossom bouquet with more depth and staying power.
- Pair with a clean Ambrox or white musk skin scent to extend the drydown without altering the floral character.
- Layer with Althaïr or a vanilla-amber gourmand in cooler months to give the base more weight for evening wear.
- Mist lightly onto hair and clothing — the citrus-floral opening clings to fabric far longer than it does to skin.
