Roja Parfums Amber Oud Review: A Golden Oud Statement
Roja Dove’s 2012 rose-oud-amber parfum is rich, animalic and unapologetically luxurious.

Scent Journey
The first phase is a contrast between citrus and density. Lemon, bergamot and lime flash at the top, but they do not turn Amber Aoud into a fresh fragrance. The rose and warm spice quickly begin to bloom, and the oud-amber base can already be sensed underneath. On skin, the opening can feel rich and almost syrupy in the parfum concentration, so a little goes a long way.
In the heart, rose de mai takes center stage. Fig and ylang-ylang add a soft, creamy, slightly fruity floral layer, while jasmine gives depth. Saffron and cinnamon-style warmth keep the florals from becoming pretty in a conventional sense; this is a rose with weight and shadow. The oud is present but usually more integrated than sharp or medicinal, depending on skin chemistry and the source description one follows.
The drydown is long and resinous. Oud, ambergris, benzoin, sandalwood, musk, orris, patchouli, oakmoss and birch create a dense base with amber warmth and a powdery-musky finish. Civet, where listed, can add an animalic nuance; some wearers perceive it clearly, while others read the same effect as oud or ambergris. This is the phase that lasts for hours and leaves a rich scent bubble on clothing and skin.
Performance Dashboard
8–10+ hours; Parfumo community longevity score 8.5/10. Many wearers describe it as an all-day scent on skin, and clothing can hold it even longer.
Above average; moderate-to-heavy for the first 3–4 hours, then settling into a rich scent bubble.
Strong; Parfumo sillage score 8.1/10. The parfum concentration gives Amber Aoud noticeable room presence.

Layering Ideas
- Use the matching Amber Aoud Hair Perfume to reinforce the scent without adding another strong fragrance.
- If experimenting, apply a single spray over an unscented moisturizer rather than layering with another oud, rose or amber-heavy perfume, which can quickly become too much.
