Scent Journey
The first spray is assertive. Bergamot and juniper give a bracing, aromatic lift before the frankincense settles in, and the rum note reads as a warm, slightly sweet alcoholic haze rather than anything sharp. For the first ten to twenty minutes the fragrance is more herbal and resinous than sweet, and anyone expecting an immediate gourmand will be surprised. The frankincense in the top reads cool and faintly lemony rather than smoky, which makes the transition into the heart feel like a genuine turn rather than a fade.
Roughly thirty minutes in, the fragrance pivots hard. Fig arrives with its characteristic jammy, slightly coconut-adjacent sweetness, and it is immediately joined by a trio of nuts: hazelnut, roasted nuts and almond. This is the most distinctive part of Incense 01. Nutty accords are relatively rare in mainstream releases, and here they function as a bridge between the resinous top and the gourmand base. The roasted nut note reads dry, toasted and almost savory, which keeps the fig from tipping into pure sugar. Lily of the valley, the only floral note in the composition, provides a clean, slightly green counterweight that stops the heart from becoming cloying. It is not a prominent note, but its absence would be felt.
The base is a slow, steady descent into smoky vanilla and sandalwood. Frankincense returns for a second act, this time softer and more integrated into the blend. Vanilla and dark chocolate supply a rich, bittersweet sweetness, sandalwood and cedarwood give the composition its woody spine, and moss adds a faintly earthy, vintage-leaning texture underneath. Dark chocolate becomes more apparent as the fragrance warms on skin. The overall effect is a smoky, chocolate-dusted amber with a creamy sandalwood core. It remains sweet but never becomes a straight gourmand, because the frankincense and cedarwood keep pulling it back toward resin and wood.
Performance Dashboard
Long-lasting. Eight to ten hours on skin is typical, and considerably longer on clothing.
Strong for the first three to four hours, then settling into a closer, more intimate wear.
Moderate to heavy. It creates a noticeable scent bubble without becoming a room-filling assault.
When to Wear
Pros & Cons
- Excellent longevity and projection for the price
- Unusual nutty heart that sets it apart from standard smoky ambers
- Genuinely unisex, without skewing heavily masculine or feminine
- Strong value at roughly $65 for 100ml
- Frankincense appears in both top and base, giving the composition unusual structural depth
- Too heavy and sweet for warm weather
- Not office-appropriate for most workplaces
- The double frankincense can read sharp on some skin types in the opening
- No named perfumer, which limits transparency for collectors
Price & Value
“One of the better value propositions in the 2025 unisex oriental segment. Roughly $65 for 100ml of eau de parfum with eight to ten hour longevity is difficult to argue with.”
Reformulation History
No significant batch variations have been reported for Incense 01 at this time. As with most Swiss Arabian releases, the formula appears consistent across production runs.

Layering Ideas
- Layer with a clean, dry vanilla or amber to soften the smoke and extend the drydown.
- Layer with a rose-oud fragrance to add depth and a more traditionally Middle Eastern character.
- Layer with a light bergamot-forward fresh scent in spring to lift the opening and reduce the density.
- Layer with a straight sandalwood scent to push the creamy woody core forward and dial back the chocolate.
