Scent Journey
The first thirty minutes are all light and lift: a bright, slightly bitter bergamot cut with the sweet juiciness of mandarin orange. It reads almost classical — a citrus opening that could belong to any number of mid-century masculines — but there is a faint green, herbal undercurrent already hinting at what is coming.
Between one and two hours, the fougère heart fully blooms. Lavender arrives clean and slightly soapy, geranium adds a rosy-metallic bite, and the rose lends a soft, almost powdery floral roundness. This is the most traditionally handsome phase of Brutus — barbershop-adjacent, but with a modern, uncluttered clarity.
From roughly four hours onward, the base takes over and the fragrance becomes what it was always meant to be: patchouli-forward, earthy, and quietly animalic. Cedar sharpens the woodiness, oakmoss gives it a damp forest-floor texture, and amber and labdanum wrap everything in a warm, resinous, slightly balsamic glow. Musk softens the edges without ever sweetening the composition. The drydown lingers on skin and fabric for hours.
Performance Dashboard
6-8 hours on skin, longer on clothing. Solidly above average for an EDP, though notably tamer than the beast-mode performance Orto Parisi is famous for.
Moderate — roughly arm's length for the first couple of hours before settling into a skin-adjacent hum. Reviews consistently flag this as one of the house's more restrained releases.
Moderate. It leaves a refined, well-mannered trail rather than filling a room. You will be noticed when someone is close, not from across the street.
