Scent Journey
The first thirty minutes belong to almond — cool, slightly bitter, unmistakably marzipan. Aldehydes give it a soapy, vintage sparkle, while anise threads a dark, licorice-tinged greenness through the sweetness. It is confectionery and apothecary at once, with a faintly nutty, powdery texture already forming at the edges.
Between one and two hours the rose unfurls — deep, velvety, and dusted rather than dewy. Heliotrope adds its almond-adjacent, vanilla-soft powder, and the agarwood begins to assert itself: dry, slightly resinous, with a smoky-woody spine. The leather note slides in beneath, giving the heart a worn, glove-soft richness that keeps the sweetness in check.
From four hours onward Stercus settles into skin. Musk becomes the dominant voice — warm, slightly animalic, faintly earthy — cushioned by vanilla and a clean cedar dryness that keeps the base from turning cloying. Heliotrope leaves a powdery, almost cosmetic trail. The overall impression is of warm skin after a long evening: intimate, lived-in, and quietly addictive.
Performance Dashboard
8-12 hours on skin, and considerably longer on fabric. Stercus is an extrait-strength composition and it behaves like one — a single application on the chest will still be detectable the following morning.
Heavy, beast-mode projection for the first three to four hours before it settles into a dense, close-to-skin aura. Two sprays is a full wearing; four is a statement.
Strong. This is a fragrance that fills a room and leaves a trail behind you; a scarf worn once will smell of it for days.
When to Wear
Pros & Cons
- ✅ Extraordinarily long-lasting with heavy projection — genuine extrait-level performance
- ✅ A rare, beautifully balanced almond-rose-oud accord that feels vintage and modern at once
- ✅ The animalic and leathery facets are integrated rather than shocking, making it more wearable than its name suggests
- ✅ Excellent value per wear given that two sprays are sufficient
- ❌ Polarising — the powdery almond opening and animalic base divide opinion sharply
- ❌ Heavy projection makes it unsuitable for offices, warm weather and enclosed spaces
- ❌ Difficult to sample casually; the name and reputation deter many before they ever smell it
- ❌ Niche pricing for a fragrance with a deliberately limited audience
Price & Value
“Strong value if the scent profile suits you. Performance is exceptional, and because two sprays are ample, a single 100ml bottle lasts years. Poor value only if you buy blind and discover the powder-and-leather profile is not for you.”

Layering Ideas
- Layer with a single spray of a straight, smoky oud oil to push the agarwood forward and mute the powder
- Pair with a rose soliflore or rose attar to amplify the heart and create a richer, more floral trajectory
- Add a light spray of a dry cedar or vetiver fragrance to sharpen the base for daytime wear
- In warmer weather, apply a single spray to the chest and layer with a citrus-forward cologne on the wrists to keep the animalic facets in check
