Scent Journey
The first 15 to 30 minutes belong to bergamot. It is bright, slightly green and genuinely juicy rather than sharp, with the Calabrian material giving a faintly bitter peel edge that keeps the opening from turning syrupy. There is a subtle fresh-spicy lift underneath that reads as clean rather than peppery.
Between roughly one and two hours, Tunisian orange blossom takes over. This is the defining passage of MYSLF: a soft, slightly soapy white floral that sits closer to clean linen than to a heavy indolic floral. The citrus recedes but does not disappear, and the first hints of the Ambrofix base begin to surface.
From around four hours onward the fragrance settles into a woody-amber signature. Ambrofix supplies a smooth, dry, slightly mineral warmth, while patchouli adds a faintly earthy, slightly sweet texture underneath. The result is a skin-close, softly sweet woody trail that stays remarkably consistent for the rest of the wear.
Performance Dashboard
6-8 hours on skin for most wearers, with the base still detectable on fabric the following day.
Strong in the opening, moderate through the drydown, projecting roughly an arm's length after two hours.
Moderate to strong; it fills a room for the first hour, then settles into a closer, more polite trail.
When to Wear
Pros & Cons
- ✅ Genuinely versatile, working in the office and on a date night without adjustment
- ✅ Distinctive orange blossom heart that separates it from the usual bergamot-and-ambroxan crowd
- ✅ Strong opening performance with a smooth, comfortable drydown
- ✅ Refillable bottle reduces long-term cost and waste
- ❌ The white floral heart is polarising for wearers who prefer dry, aromatic masculines
- ❌ Moderate longevity means a midday top-up for some skin types
- ❌ Premium pricing at full retail for what is a fairly simple four-ingredient structure
- ❌ The drydown can feel generic once the orange blossom fades
Price & Value
“Worth buying, but buy it discounted. At $90 to $110 for 100ml, MYSLF is one of the strongest value propositions in the current men's designer market. Above $140, you are paying for the YSL name as much as the juice.”
Reformulation History
No significant batch variations reported. MYSLF is a modern mass-market composition built on captive molecules and standardised naturals, and wearers have not documented meaningful differences in strength or colour between production years.

Layering Ideas
- Layer a single spray of a sharp citrus eau de toilette underneath to extend the bergamot opening through summer.
- Pair with a vanilla or tonka-heavy base fragrance on the chest for a sweeter, more evening-appropriate version.
- Combine with a dry woody oud or cedar scent on the wrists to push the Ambrofix and patchouli drydown in a darker direction.
